Balnuaran Clava Cairns, Full Moon, Part 2
The texture photos that comprise this image were all taken on the first Full Moon after the Summer Solstice, 26th June 2010.
The texture abstract was created the same day, and finished within a couple of days.
The first full moon after a solstice is a traditional time to celebrate the solstice for some people, perhaps because the energies from the sun and the moon reach their extremes more or less together. From a photographic point of view, the quality of light is fairly unique, especially in the Highlands, where it basically doesn't get dark at all throughout the days/weeks around the Summer Solstice.
